The project aimed to transition Daily Life from its standalone website to being integrated into mastheads as its own index page, replacing the Lifestyle index. This involved redesigning Daily Life to align with mastheads' UI design while maintaining its unique identity.
The focus was on creating a mobile-responsive layout to cater to the predominantly young female audience accessing Daily Life via mobile and social apps. Collaborating with stakeholders and developers, Daily Life was redesigned with a unique layout while remaining connected to mastheads' CMS and Bootstrap.
The new design featured reduced and categorised content for easier navigation, larger imagery, a lighter color palette, and modular design options. Following integration, Daily Life experienced a significant increase in average page views (+186%) and revitalised Sunday readership across all devices.
Mobile category views saw a significant uplift (+180%), while tablet engagement continued to grow. Moreover, time spent per visit increased by +41%, and homepage engagement on The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age increased by +15%. Overall, the integration into mastheads resulted in improved user engagement and increased readership metrics across desktop, mobile, and tablet platforms.
