The Transport for New South Wales design system revolutionised the agency’s digital platforms by introducing consistency, efficiency, and user-centricity. Before its implementation, disparate user experiences and inefficient design processes hindered usability.

The system addressed these challenges by providing standard design elements and components, benefiting diverse users such as customers, content producers, designers, and developers.

Key roles, including mine, collaborated closely with stakeholders to align system goals, gather requirements, and ensure relevance. Despite challenges like developers adapting to new workflows and resource limitations, the systematic approach ensured effective implementation.

Results were significant: the system established visual consistency, streamlined processes, and enhanced user satisfaction. Collaboration among teams fostered a shared understanding and improved implementation.
